Our Clinical Care Model

Transformation Counseling & Consulting, PLLC strongly believes in the use of  a collaborative care model as the best practices to deliver individual counseling and group counseling services.  Our team is dedicated to ensuring that our clients receive the best fit for mental health counseling whether it’s with one clinician, multiple clinicians, or a referral to another practice in the community.

Our goal is to help our clients reach their full potential and improve their quality of life.  Our team specializes in helping women manage or eliminate anxiety and depression.  We specialize in utilizing trauma-informed therapy strategies such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy and EMR. These services can become expensive when paired with a licensed therapist with over a decade of experience, which in turn could limit access to our services. This is one reason we believe in a teaching model that utilizes master’s level graduate students who are in the practicum and internship stage of learning and associate level therapists.

Having Master’s Level Graduate Students and Master’s Level  Associate Counselors allows us to:

  • Offer high quality counseling services at a sharply discounted rate for self-pay clients.  Offer multiple groups to meet the needs of our community at a rate that may be more affordable and as beneficial as individual therapy in some cases.

  • CNBC “10 U.S. Cities That Are Growing The Fastest” article rates Raleigh, North Carolina as the 4th fastest growing city.

What Is A Master’s Level Graduate Practicum or Intern Student?

Practicum and interns are students at the Master’s level who are earning hours towards their desired graduate degree. They have completed most of their required coursework  and they are in the final stages of completing their degree. These students are required to obtain supervised clinical hours prior to being awarded their graduate degree.

They are not employees of the practice; however, they work with us as affiliates. Transformation Counseling & Consulting, PLLC enters into a contract with their university and offers the students a clinical site to gain experience while also offering clinical supervision at no cost to the student or the university.

In exchange, the Transformation Counseling & Consulting, PLLC is able to set lower self-pay rates for counseling sessions with these clinicians.  This arrangement benefits the public and growth and development of the next generation of clinical therapists.

What Is A Master’s Level Counselor Or Doctoral Level Associate Counselor?

“Master’s Level Associate Counselors” or “Doctoral Level Associate Counselors” are those who have graduated from either their Master’s or Doctoral programs and are currently provisionally licensed.  They are working on completing the state requirements to become fully licensed. These therapists hold at least two degrees (a bachelors and masters). They have completed their internship. They continue working under supervision while preparing for completing their requirements for full licensure.

Most of the Master’s/Doctoral Associate Level Counselors on staff with us are on the path to becoming an LCMHC (Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor) or LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker).

Associate Level Counselors cost a bit more than interns due to the experience and training they possess. They may have 2-4 years of experience doing therapy and frequently have at least one area they specialize in. These clinicians are highly trained professionals with a passion for helping clients overcome struggles and implement strategies.

What Is A Licensed Therapist?

“Licensed therapists” (i.e. Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, Licensed Clinical Social Workers, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists) have completed ALL of the state requirements to hold and maintain a professional license. They are no longer under supervision and have taken all the needed steps to complete the process for licensure. This includes state and national examinations, several years of work experience, and recommendation letters.

These therapists have the highest rates in the practice given their experience and training. Fully licensed therapists have history of clinical experience and specialty areas.
